I heard the bells on Christmas Day, Their old familiar carols play. And wild and sweet the words repeat, Of Peace on earth, good will 2 men.

And in despair I bowed my head: There is no peace on earth, I said. For hate is strong & mocks the song, Of Peace on earth, good will 2 men.

Then pealed the bells loud & deep: God is not dead nor doth He sleep; Wrong shall fail, right prevail, With peace on earth, good will 2 men.

(POEM: William Wallace) They say that man is mighty, He governs land & sea. He wields a mighty sceptre, O'er lesser powers that be. >

< But a mightier power & stronger, Man from his throne has hurled. For the hand that rocks the cradle, Is the hand that rules the world.

You may have tangible wealth untold; Caskets of jewels & coffers of gold. Richer than I you can never be; I had a Mother who prayed for me.

Some classic carols contain theological jewels, like this little-used original verse from Charles Wesley's 1739 "Hymn for Christmas Day" … >

< Adam's likeness, Lord efface; Stamp Thy image in its place. 2nd Adam from above, Reinstate us in thy love. Hark! how all the welkin rings…

Here's the little-used last verse of a classic carol, THE FIRST NOEL … Then let us all with one accord, Sing praises to our heavenly Lord; >

< That hath made heaven and earth of naught, And with his blood mankind hath bought. Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, Born is the King of Israel.

STILLE NACHT: 1816 poem by Austrian pastor Joseph Mohr, set to guitar by Franz Gruber on Christmas Eve 1818, when church organ broke down. >

Christmas is about GIFTS: the gift of GOD 2 MAN, Emmanuel wrapped up in a baby; and the gift of MAN 2 GOD, our bodies as a living sacrifice.

The poem "Christmas Bells" was written during the time of the American Civil War by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, on Christmas Day in 1864 ...

I heard the bells on Christmas Day, Their old familiar carols play. And wild and sweet the words repeat, Of Peace on earth, good will 2 men.

And in despair I bowed my head: There is no peace on earth, I said, For hate is strong & mocks the song, Of Peace on earth, good will 2 men.

Thn pealed th bells more loud&deep: God is nt dead nr doth He sleep; Th wrong shall fail, th right prevail w/Peace on earth, good will 2 men

“@UPWITHMKS: There are two kinds of people I don't trust. Schizophrenics.” // I agree. Me too. :-) // MERRY CHRISTMAS to our MKs everywhere!

HARK! THE HERALD ANGELS SING. Not exactly. Charles Wesley actually wrote, "Hark how all the welkin (heaven) rings" in His Christmas hymn. >

< Why? Because in Luke 2:13-14 the angels were SAYING, not singing. There is no biblical indication that angels SING any time in history. >

< There are only 2 times in Scripture that angels SING, once at creation (Job 38:4-7) and once at the end of time in Heaven (Rev. 5:8-9). >

< Lucifer was leading them in worship the FIRST time they sang, but they haven't sung since his fall from Heaven. That's why he hates YOU. >

< Because the NEXT time angels sing, the CHURCH will lead them in a "new song" of redemption. YOU will be one of Heaven's worship leaders! >

< The angels didn't sing at the 1st coming of Christ, but will sing with the church at His 2nd coming. They can hardly wait! (1 Peter 1:12)

An elementary school teacher in Atlanta asked students to write the lyrics of their favorite Christmas carols. These lines were received: >

< Deck the halls with Buddy Holly / We three kings of porridge & tar / He's making a list, chicken & rice / With the jelly toast proclaim >

< Later on we'll perspire as we dream by the fire / Noel, Barney's the king of Israel / Oh what fun it is to ride with 1 horse, soap & hay >

< O come, froggy faithful / We wish you a very crisp mess / You'll tell Carol, "Be a skunk, I require" / You'll go drown in Listerine / :-)

NO ROOM? A full inn and an obscure manger in Bethlehem prove that the world doesn’t have to 'let God in' for His prophecies to come to pass!

What a Gift Exchange! INCARNATION: God took on a HUMAN nature He never had before. SALVATION: I take on a DIVINE nature I never had before.

"Christmas is perhaps the only time of year when people can express their true sentiments without feeling self-conscious." ~ Francis Farley

EMMANUEL, GOD WITH US: Great little One, whose all-embracing birth, Lifts Earth to Heaven, and stoops Heaven to Earth. ~ Richard Crashaw

CHRISTMAS GIFT IDEAS: To enemies, forgiveness. To opponents, tolerance. To friends, your heart. To children, your example. To all, charity.

EMMANUEL: Those little hands were made so nails might be driven into them, those baby feet to walk a dusty hill and be nailed to a cross. >

< That sweet infant's head would someday wear a crown of thorns and that little body would be ripped open by a spear. JESUS WAS BORN TO DIE.

If we could condense all the wonderful truths of the Christmas season into just 4 words, these would be the words: "EMMANUEL, GOD WITH US."

Christmas = annual; Christ = eternal. Christmas = sentimental; Christ = supernatural. Christmas = a human product; Christ = a divine person.

BLACK FRIDAY: "Any Friday the 13th, a Friday marked by great confusion or activity, a Friday darkened by economic or other catastrophe." Hmm

BLACK FRIDAY: Inspired by Occupy Wall Street protesters in 2011, there's currently a boycott called Stop Black Friday. #GoodLuckWithThat :-)

BLACK FRIDAY: Originated by Philadelphia police in 1966 to describe disruptive pedestrian and vehicle traffic on the day after Thanksgiving.

CYBER MONDAY: A term invented in 2005 to describe consumers who didn't get what they wanted on Black Friday, but bought it online on Monday.

BLUE TUESDAY: Not actual American idiom yet; I suggest it as the day shoppers begin paying their bills. :-) Quick, before retailers name it!

THANKSGIVING SUNDAY: Oh yes, the Sunday between Black Friday & Cyber Monday. Maybe you could give 10% of what you spend as an offering! :-)

Maybe this is why we don't see many baptisms on Black Friday :-) "You cannot serve both God and Money" (Matt 6:24, NIV) pic.twitter.com/7EgSBxnq
